Seeing the Wonders of Bali, Indonesia Bali is a small island in Indonesia that is famous for its stunning landscapes, rich culture, and beautiful beaches. It is not surprising that it is now a popular tourist destination. I had the opportunity to see some of Bali's best attractions while I was there.
My first stop was Ubud, known as Bali's cultural capital. I went to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, a Hindu temple complex and nature reserve that is home to hundreds of long-tailed macaques. It was fun to watch the monkeys interact with one another, but visitors should be careful and keep their belongings safe because the monkeys can be very naughty.
I also went to the Tegalalang Rice Terrace, which was absolutely breathtaking. The UNESCO World Heritage site's terraced rice paddies and breathtaking views make for the ideal photo location. I was able to go on a walk through the rice paddies and learn about the old irrigation method that is used to grow rice.
After that, I went to Bali's southern coast to see some of the stunning beaches there. Padang-Padang Beach, a hidden gem beneath a cliff, was my favorite. The white sand and crystal-clear water were truly paradise. I also went to Kuta Beach, which was busier but still a great place to surf and watch people.
A visit to the Uluwatu Temple, a Balinese sea temple perched on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean, was one of the most memorable aspects of my trip. I took a tour of the temple and saw a unique performance of the traditional Balinese dance and music known as Kecak. The Ramayana was told by the dancers, who were dressed in traditional attire.
The Gili Islands, three small islands off the coast of Lombok near Bali, were another highlight of my trip. The stunning marine life, coral reefs, and turquoise water of the islands are well-known. Sea turtles, vibrant fish, and even a few reef sharks were among the sights I saw on a snorkeling tour. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Last but not least, I went to the Tanah Lot Temple, another sea temple on a rock formation just off the Bali coast. It's easy to see why the temple is a popular spot to watch the sunset. A truly breathtaking view is created when the colors of the sea and sky blend together.
